Job Summary
 
The Coder Level 1 works under the direction of the Manager of Health Information Management via the Coding Coordinator. Performs accurate and timely coding and abstracting of all outpatient medical records. Assures proper diagnoses are documented on patient charts. Maintains policies and procedures and participates in performance improvement activities.
  • Regulatory Requirements
    • Hybrid - must live within commuting distance.
    • High school graduate or GED.
    • Knowledge of ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS and CPT classification systems. Certified Coding Associate (CCA), Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC) credential is required or must be obtained within six months of hire.
    • Prior EMR experience (experience with Meditech strongly preferred).
    • Demonstrated expertise working with multiple cross-functional departments is also preferred.

    • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
